Connie Hartline
For nearly 31 years, Connie Hartline was a writer and editor for the American Public Works Association (APWA), a nonprofit membership organization, serving public and private sector professionals across the full spectrum of public works.
Her scope of work included newsletters, pamphlets, booklets, magazines, website articles, promotional materials, white papers and books. Working with staff and member volunteers, graphic artists and printers, Connie took the publications from concept to development, and from layout to publication.
Originally from the Chicago area, Connie relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, when APWA moved its headquarters from the University of Chicago campus in 1993. A graduate of Purdue University, she majored in English and organizational communication. Over the years, as sole remaining original staff member, she became the de facto staff historian and was often called upon to use those skills to research and tell the stories of APWA to members, staff, and the public.
Among other things in her new role with Ending Racism USA, Connie looks forward to using that skillset to build a database of stories about the efforts of activists and communities to end racism across the United States.
