Twitter Town Hall

Yes to social media, no to Twitter
Twitter Town Hall: Aug. 28, 8 p.m. ET with colorful speech bubbles asking questions about Twitter: Are you staying or going? Can we build community? Who profits? Is staying supporting hate speech?

Cam Howard / Ending Racism USA

Ending Racism USA announced our decision to quit Twitter, now called X, on August 9, 2023, as an act to resist its inappropriate use of social media which includes allowing and profiting from hate speech and using our data for free.

Our Twitter Town Hall, held on August 28, 2023, the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, is part of Ending Racism USA’s commitment to remember King’s dream as we work to end racism.

Participants discussed Twitter and its role in promoting and legitimizing racism, social media alternatives, and effective ways to use social media to end racism.

Content from the town hall has been condensed into five brief videos, available below.

We are also posting resources to learn more and get involved.
